Gcore Recognized as Leader and Outperformer in the 2024 GigaOm Radar for Edge Development Platforms

We are thrilled to announce that Gcore has been recognized as a Leader and Outperformer in the 2024 GigaOm Radar for Edge Development Platforms. The prestigious accolade highlights Gcore as a leader in platform capability, innovation, and market impact, as assessed by GigaOm’s rigorous criteria.

What Is the GigaOm Radar Report?

The GigaOm Radar for Edge Development Platforms evaluates global edge infrastructure and developer services, focusing on how they’re reducing network, compute, and storage latency for applications running closer to end users. This fourth annual report assesses 13 top platforms based on their capabilities and nonfunctional requirements, providing insights for IT and executive decision-makers.

In this year’s report, the focus has shifted more towards compute capabilities and developer experience. The change reflects the evolving landscape of edge platforms and the growing importance of providing robust, efficient, and user-friendly solutions.

The GigaOm report recognizes Gcore as a Leader in the Innovation/Platform Play quadrant because our platform offers both edge-native and IaaS-based compute instances, capabilities not widely available from other vendors. Additionally, our robust and innovative development pipeline has earned us the status of an Outperformer. This combination of performance and innovation, particularly in our edge-native runtimes and cutting-edge solutions, differentiates us from other providers in the space and sets our edge platform apart in a highly competitive landscape.

Report Highlights

The report focuses on several key benefits and strengths of Gcore:

  • Expanding network: We continuously add new points of presence (PoPs) to our robust edge network, reaching over 180, with 24 added in 2023 and 10 more in H1 2024.
  • Global coverage: We score a perfect 5 stars for PoP coverage in Latin America, Europe, and Africa, with a global average of 4 stars, placing us among the top 3 providers for global coverage. Our extensive network allows us to serve customers worldwide seamlessly.
  • Top features: We rank in the top 3 for both key and emerging features, scoring strongly across the board. Our commitment to innovation ensures customers have access to the latest technologies, such as AI automated speech recognition and FastEdge.
  • CDN excellence: The report commends Gcore CDN for its robust features that help customers maintain low latency and maximum uptime. These features include Anycast, data storage location selection, customizable failover and switchover options, load balancer health checks, and GeoDNS. Additionally, Gcore DDoS Protection can seamlessly integrate with Gcore CDN for increased security and protection.
  • Developer-friendly: We’re committed to improving the developer experience by enabling efficient deployment and management of distributed applications across various locations using a single interface.
  • Edge AI solutions: GigaOm notes that Gcore Edge AI offers pre-configured images for NVIDIA GPU clusters, providing a wide range of models at the click of a button.

Leading Edge Development into the Future

As we celebrate this achievement, we remain focused on the future. We’re committed to continuing to lead edge development with innovative solutions. Our ongoing investments in technology and infrastructure will continue to enhance our platform’s capabilities.
